Authorities try hard to make water safe with all kind of different treatments biologically and chemically. Typical liquid sensors are chemical sensors and in touch with the probe like pH level, Dissolved oxygen, Ammonium, or Conductivity. For compliance with a standards use certified laboratories. The high tech liquid sensor from Hohner Corp. measures physical properties with optics without being in touch with water. It is designed to show the smallest possible change in liquid quality.

 

Following optical properties are detected in this sensor

Color – sometimes invisible for a human eye

                But in many cases a contamination colors liquid

                The sensor measures blue green red and infrared

Clarity  – sometimes invisible for the human eye

                Tiny contamination’s can be detected by adding all color

Refractive index

                Typically alcohol has a refractive index of 1.3

                Alcohol has a typical polarity of 90 degrees

Calibration  The sensor is simply calibrated to 100% pure alcohol  and

                     deviation from this value is measured

Principle

Flashing lights and photodetectors are around a boro silicate glass cylinder and together with optical filters and masks the results are used in a microprocessor to calculate most important data to terminate physical quality of water.

The sensor is calibrated to 100 % pure distilled water and calculates deviation.

An 1 ¼ “ flange on in and output of the sensor allows also testing of waste water.

The sensor is made of food approved stainless steel.

The sensor is water proof and can be used down to 3ft under water.

Since this data’s are physical properties and therefore vary with ambient temperature we also measure temperature

Hohner Corp has a water sensor installed in Beamsville. This water sensor is connected to a GSM telephone modem. The telephone modem is ready available from many vendors like Nokia Motorola Siemens etc and has a SIM card. Any provider will assign a phone number to it. Power supply for water sensor and modem is pulled from modem batteries or line power.
